100% natural Malagasy silk, endemic to Madagascar.
Elegant as a scarf or headscarf.
Wear it wherever you go. Easy to match with any outfit, and elevates your look.
Often called Malagasy silks, these scarves are culturally some of the most significant textiles in the world.
In the native language, they are called lambas, and are definitely suitable as scarves for men and women.
Completely handmade using traditional weaving methods that have been passed down from mother-to-daughter for generations (hand spun yarn, naturally dyed, and hand woven on a floor loom), in small villages in the central highlands of Madagascar.
There is two different species of silk – the wild Borocera silk, which is only found in Madagascar, and the cultivated Mulberry silk. The Mulberry silk is the white yarn, which is it’s undyed natural color.
The silkworms are harvested from the Tapia forests.
The wires are extracted by a technique perfectly mastered by the artisans.
The threads are then hand-woven onto traditional looms.
Only natural dyes are used, such as leaves/bark/clay. The dyes are fixed and will not run or fade.
Beautiful pieces that will last a lifetime.
Each may vary in sizes.
